The Little Mermaid statue was a present from brewer Carl Jacobsen (The Carlsberg Breweries) to the city of Copenhagen, made by a then little known sculptor called Edvard Erichsen.

The Little Mermaid was unveiled at Langelinje in 1913.

Palace is the winter residence of the Danish royals. The building is known to be the most beautiful piece of Rococo architecture in Denmark.

The palace was built in the middle of the 18th century for families of the nobility. At the end of the 18th century the building came into the hands of the Royal Family.
